Sydney, known as the Harbour City, is home to some of the most famous landmarks in the world: the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge. However, there is more to this gorgeous, bustling city than these icons. A hidden attraction to the city is Kings Cross, which is very similar to Amsterdam’s Red Light District and features bars and clubs lining the streets. There are also endless attractions for the families, making Sydney the perfect travel destination for any tourist.
Sydney’s Highlights:
Sydney Harbour Bridge: The spectacular night view of the bridge, which is nicknamed “The Coathanger” by local, is a breathtaking must-see. Tourists are able to cross the bridge on foot, by car or by bike.
Sydney Opera House: Named a UNESCO World Heritage site, the opera house is one of the most famous performing arts centers in the world and one of Sydney’s premier tourist attractions. Its six venues feature more than 1500 performances each year, which are attended by more than 2 million people.
Darling Harbour: This is one of the largest entertainment centers in Sydney. The extensive complex features a convention center, a maritime museum, an IMAX movie theater, an aquarium, as well as wide range of restaurants.
The Rocks: This historical precinct located on the western side of Sydney Cove features sandstone buildings that make for a vibrant sightseeing tour during the day. At night, tourists can visit one of the many bars and pubs located in the area.
Sydney Olympic Park: Home to the 2000 Summer Olympics, the park is now used as a venue for numerous sporting events, including golf, hockey, tennis, swimming, and archery games. It also features open-air venues such as Bicentennial Park and Wentworth Common.
Sydney’s hippest hotel is back. The Kirketon was part of the first wave of Sydney boutique hotels, and the design always turned heads. But while the urban grit of Darlinghurst is a welcome counterpoint to the sunny mellowness of the rest of the city, the Kirketon’s highly polished design was beginning to look a bit cold.

As is typical in industrial retrofits, some of the wharf’s structure and machinery i ...
Yes, Hilton — but gone (or at least all but unrecognizable) is the dismal Seventies tower that once went by that name. Today’s Sydney Hilton, fresh off a A$200m makeover, is a revelation, a modern business hotel done the way they all ought to be: prime central location, swanky modernist guest rooms, state-of-the-art amenities, and ba ...
First, the bad news: no swimming pool, just a well-appointed fitness center, and only the penthouse suites have much in the way of views—but one could just as reasonably complain that too few hotels hand out hundred-dollar bills at reception, or that your bellhop is never Orlando Bloom. This place is near-perfect, a thirty-one-room boutiqu ...
The Observatory Hotel sits tucked away on a quiet side street near the historic Rocks district, an easy walk from any number of downtown destinations yet well isolated from the constantly developing Wharf and waterfront. Here, behind a stately Georgian facade, is one of Sydney’s most elegant and intimate hotels.

It’s not the most naturally picturesque tourist district, but there’s a reason people who visit Sydney choose to stay in the King’s Cross district: wildly eclectic, easily accessible nightlife. Whether your particular brand of after-dark fun involves leisurely upmarket dining, wine tasting, all-night clubbing, or racier shenani ...
