The British Virgin Islands - or ‘BVI’ - are a self-governing British Caribbean Island territory located just to the east of the US Virgin Islands. BVI is a popular destination for sun worshipers, fishermen, sailors and wealthy travelers and consists of a cluster of sister islands. Habited or uninhabited, flat or rocky, covered in coral or in steep volcanic rock, each island is unique. Many visitors use their US dollars to shop in the luxury shops on the main island, Tortola. With its pristine natural beauty, white sandy beaches and coral reefs, BVI is also the perfect place for sailing, surfing and scuba diving.

Jost Van Dyke: Of the four main islands Jost Van Dyke is located furthest west and can only be reached by boat. Take the ferry from the west end of Tortola Island or the Dolphin ferry from the US Virgin Islands. Jost Van Dyke is also the smallest of the main islands and the aim here is to do nothing but relax on the beach and soak up the sun.
Tortola: The capital, Road Town, is located on Tortola, the largest of the British Virgin Islands. Road Town is built on the beautiful Road Harbor to the south. Here you can hike through the rain forests to Sage Mountain and down to the secluded palm-fringed beaches. The luxury shops specialize in West Indian spices, rums, jams, soaps and hand-crafted jewelry.
Virgin Gorda: At just 14 kilometers long, Virgin Gorda is the third-largest of the main islands. The island has a relaxed and slow pace and many visitors come here to relax on the beach and worship the sun. But despite the island's slow pace, you can still find excitement spending the day exploring The Baths, where enormous boulders have crafted a myriad of trails, secret beaches and rock pools.
Anegada: There's no better way to end the day than enjoying a rum cocktail on the patio of your small hotel or cottage along the banks of the south shore. Here, shipwrecks have provided a home to exotic marine life, making Anegada a scuba diving and snorkeling paradise.
