Water from the Rio Mapocho flows from the Andes Mountains to the west and divides Santiago in half. • Plaza de Armas: Santiago’s central plaza is situated on the banks of Alameda River. It is the ideal place to sit back and enjoy the city after a day of sight-seeing.

• Parque Forestal: Located in the city’s center, this park is reminiscent of Santiago’s European heritage. While strolling through, make sure to stop at the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, Santiago’s fine-art museum.

• The Mercado Central: The Mercado Central, or Central Market was constructed with materials from England in 1872 and then shipped to and assembled in Santiago. The market has a local flavor and offers dining, shopping and entertainment for all.

• Palacio de La Moneda: La Moneda is a neoclassical splendor. The palace serves as the seat of government and is the Presidential residence.Encompassing an entire city block of Santiago, the Palacio symbolizes wealth and luxury.

• Museums: Museo de Santiago, Museo Chileno de Arte Precolombinoand Museo Neruda (La Chascona) are the three main museums in Santiago, all of which are worth visiting. Most offer guided tours.

• Vina Cousino Macul: This winery is as old as Santiago itself. Built in 1856, the winery is now open to visitors and offers wine tasting as well as a guided tour of the facility.

• Tren de Vino : Take in the scenery of the Colcahgua Valley while riding on this wine train. This popular attraction also includes wine tasting and a traditional meal.
