The City of New Dehli

This lovely capital city of India is situated on the banks of the Yamuna river and is among the oldest cities in the world. New Delhi’s Highlights

• India Gate and Rajpath: This war memorial was constructed to commemorate the Indian soldiers who pledged their lives for World War I and the Afghan Wars.

• Qutub Minar: At 72.5 meters, the 13^th Century Qutub Minar in South Delhi, is a real delight for the eyes and a splendid epitome in the history of Indian culture. It was actually built as the symbol of victory to emphasize the Muslim rule over Delhi. This minaret also defined the beginning of a new architectural style which came to be known as Indo-Islamic architecture.

• Lotus Temple: This awesome piece of architecture is designed as a ‘lotus’ and is a Baha i House of Worship. This unique piece of art is also referred to as ‘the Mother Temple of the Indian Sub-continent’ due to its finesse and uniqueness.

• Jantar Mantar: This extra-ordinary museum houses 13 exclusive architectural gadgets and was constructed as early as 1727.

• The Taj Mahal: No trip to Dehli would be complete without a day trip to Agra to visit the infamous Taj Mahal, which many say is the most beautiful and ‘extravagant monument built for love’. Emperor Shah Jahan built the breathtakingly-beautiful structure as memorial for his second wife and it was completed in 1653.
