LLuxe City Guide Overview

The City of Tehran:

The multi-ethnic capital of Iran, Tehran is a city of 14 million residents that is just coming onto the travel scene. Tehran is adorned with great museums, well-kept parks, and flower-filled gardens. The city has a dry, cool climate due to its proximity to the mountains. Its people are generally warm and friendly to visitors. The Alborz Range, situated close to the city, provides an excellent place for ski lovers to show their talents. The northern part of the city is more modern and cosmopolitan, while the southern part of the city is generally less expensive but also less attractive.

Tehran’s Highlights:

  • Treasury of the National Jewels: This museum is home to an extensive collection of some of the world’s most expensive jewels, including the world’s largest uncut ruby and the world’s largest pink diamond. It also features a globe made from 34 kilograms of pure gold.

  • Golestan Palace: One of the oldest historic monuments in Tehran, Golestan Palace, also known as the “Rose Garden,” is an oasis of coolness and serenity in the heart of the bustling city. Its modest architecture houses a museum that showcases everything related to the Iranian life, allowing visitors to appreciate its unique culture.

  • Tochal Sport and Recreational Complex: Situated on a mountain, thisrecreation area offers a spectacular view of the city below and can be reached via the Tochal gondola lift. More adventurous travelers can simply hike their way up. Its ski resort, gym and hiking trails make it an incomparable experience for sports lovers and thrill-seekers.

  • Milad Tower: Visible from almost everywhere in Tehran, this tower is the fourth tallest in the world and the twelfth tallest freestanding structure.

  • Tehran’s Bazaar: For shopaholics, this southern district includes a maze of shops and restaurants.
