City of Kuala Lumpur

Considered a global city, Kuala Lumpur is the capital of Malaysia, and is the country’s largest city. Its rapid progress as an economic power drove migrant workers to its labor force. Kuala Lumpur is home to the Petronas Twin Towers, the tallest twin structures in the world. The beautiful, bustling city has hosted several international events including the A1 Grand Prix and the Motorcycle Grand Prix.

• Dataran Merdeka (Independence Square): A number of important festivals take place in this square including Malaysia’s National Day Parade and Merdeka Day festivities which include parades and cultural colorful presentations by ethnic groups . The square is also home to a major city landmark: The Sultan Abdul Samad Building, which stands as an example of startling architecture of Moorish origin under the British influence.

• Kuala Lumpur City Center: In the heart of the Golden Triangle, you can find the famous Petronas Twin Towers. This is a commercial city center which caters to different types of shoppers. The superb skyline of the city emblazoned by the two towers is one of the country’s landmarks.

• Batu Caves: The 400-year-old series of naturally-sculpted lime caves sit atop a hill and are accessed by scaling 272 steps. These are some of the most popular Hindu caves outside of India. The biggest cave, popularly known as the Cathedral cave, displays amazing layers of lime in its natural state. It is also where you can find the tallest, gold-painted icon of Murugan, an Indian deity.

• Aquaria Kuala Lumpur Convention Center or Aquaria KLCC: This is a magnificent underwater tunnel that features almost 300 species of fish and aquatic animals, some of which are dangerous to man. You can explore the various underwater biotas through the exhilarating close-up view of rare species.

• Petaling Street: One of the area's local attractions, Kuala Lumpur’s Chinatown is a busy scene of trade. At night, locals and tourists alike haggle for cheap merchandise like DVDs. Aside from the array of stores selling their wares, restaurants and food outlets also abound with a variety of Chinese, Indian, and Malaysian dishes.
