Situated in a valley in the high plateaus of the country, Mexico City is a densely populated city with almost 9 million residents and contains over 21 million people in the greater metropolitan area. Mexico City is the capital of Mexico and one of the most important financial centers of Latin America. According to legend, the Aztecs built the city on an island after one of their gods led them there. With the arrival of the Spanish conquistadors, the city was destroyed, and later rebuilt by the conquerors. Ethnically and culturally diverse, this large city is an amazing place to visit, combining delights from the vibrant night life to its historically rich culture all wrapped up in an exciting and lively package. No other Latin American city offers the vast array of high-end luxury goods that Mexico City does.
Mexico City’s Favorites:
Alameda Central: Once used as a marketplace and execution site by the Aztecs, today, it is a massive park. The Palacio de Bellas Arte is adjacent to the park and houses a museum, theater, and concert hall.
Cathedral Metropolitana: Dating from the 16th century, this is the biggest and oldest cathedral in Latin America. It is truly a sight to behold, with beautiful baroque and neoclassical details.
Museo Nacional de Antropologia: It houses the famous Aztec sunstone and is considered one of the finest anthropological museums in the world.
Plaza de las Tres Culturas: This plaza effortlessly combines Mexican, Spanish and Aztec cultures all in one spot, including awe-inspiring ruins of an Aztec ceremonial site.
Plaza Garibaldi-Mariachi: Surrounded by cafes and restaurants, this square is where you will find Mariachi bands to delight you, while you eat and enjoy cheap cocktails.
Chapultepec Park: This enormous park presents a myriad of activities, including museums, and an aquatic area filled with paddle boats.
The Floating Gardens of Xochimilco: These ancient floating gardens are still operating as they did 700 years ago by the Aztecs. You can cruise the ancient canals and just admire the beauty of the area.
Anyone who still thinks of Mexico City as a polluted, congested urban dystopia hasn’t spent much time in La Condesa, the district that lends the Condesa DF its name. Here the wide avenues are lined with trees, which along with the Art Nouveau architecture resembles Paris more than it does the neighboring Centro Histórico.

Another year, another impressive entry from the Habita group, Mexico’s high-design boutique-hotel juggernaut. This one, the Distrito Capital, makes its home in the city’s Santa Fe quarter, a district of high-rise buildings and high-ticket retail — so it’s no surprise that this hotel should be one of Habita’s sleekes ...
Mexico City’s Hotel Habita is the very face of urban boutique cool, wrapped in an outer layer of frosted glass, extending the old apartment block’s volume out into space, making corridors of the old balconies, keeping the cool air in and the street noise out. From outside, the silhouettes of the well-heeled hotel guests can be spied ...
Now that the first generation of hip boutique hotels is firmly established in Mexico City, it’s time for a second, more luxurious wave. The chic enclave of Polanco, never a rough neighborhood in the first place, is home to a new crop of elegant, opulent boutique hotels, hotels like the impeccably crafted, impeccably styled Las Alcobas.

A neighborhood modeled on one of Europe’s great capitals deserves a hotel modeled on Europe’s most stylish boutiques — and so La Roma, with its wide, tree-lined avenues and artsy vibe, has Hotel Brick. It’s located on a handsome street, almost equidistant from two lush parks. Nearby are the galleries, cafes, markets, muse ...
