Casablanca, or simply ‘Casa’ is the largest city in Morocco. Along with the mosque of King Hassan II, the cosmopolitan city is home to some of the most attractive mosques in the world. The city showcases a wonderful mixture of Islamic and Jewish architecture. Situated along the Atlantic beachfront, some parts of the city have beautiful beaches where tourists spend warm evenings enjoying. You can experience the Jewish culture of Casablanca from local festivities as well as by visiting the Jewish Museum of Casablanca.
Casablanca Highlights:
King Hassan II Mosque: This phenomenal building is the third largest mosque in the world. Unlike other mosques in the city, the Moroccan government has opened its gates to non-Muslims.
Notre Dame de Lourdes: The only significant example of Roman architecture in Casablanca, Notre Dame de Lourdes stands out from the other Moroccan structures in Casablanca. It is astonishingly huge and will surely dazzle you on your first visit. Although it’s no longer used for religious practice, it is still very well-maintained.
New Medina of Casablanca: You can find all sorts of local items, food products (including good deals on olives) and souvenirs in the largest marketplace in the city.
Old Medina of Casablanca: Before the New Medina was established, this town centre was the most crowded place in Casa. The old marketplace is still a good place to find interesting local items at bargain prices.
Complexe le Village: This neighbourhood is filled with exciting bars and clubs and is a hit among tourists.
Les Bains Ziani: This luxury hammam offers a range of facilities including a steam bath as well as traditional Moroccan treatments to help make you feel revitalized and relaxed. Situated in the heart of Casablanca, this is a must-visit place when you’re in the city.
