The City of Lima:
Lima, originally christened as “The City of Kings,” is the capital of Peru. Untouched by modernization, this is the place to go to be one with nature. The atmosphere in Lima is very dream-like due to the mist that settles over the city. Historical sites such as the main square, cathedral, government palace, and train station speaks volumes about Lima's past. Lima is also a great place to sample Peruvian cuisine, making it a great travel choice for food lovers. The city has something to offer for everyone.
Lima’s Highlights:
Museo de Oro: The Gold Museum features exhibits from the golden treasures of the Incas. The pieces are reminiscent of the treasure land of ancient Peru's pre-Colombian civilization. Located within the museum, the National Museum of Archeology and History is also worth a visit.
The Plaza de Acho: Bullfighting is a must-watch attraction when visiting Latin America. This is the oldest arena in Lima. It features bullfighting events from October through November.
The Indo Market and Petit Thouars Handicraft Market: A great place to pick up souvenirs, these markets specializes in local crafts. It is also a great place to buy woolen clothing leather items and silver jewelry. Don't forget to bargain.
The Church of San Francisco: Witness the Andalusian Moorish geometrical design in this Spanish colonial building. The adjoining monastery features a world-renowned library and catacombs located beneath the monastery.
China Town: The blending spot of both Peruvian and Chinese culture, this town is well known for its Chinese food and the iconic Chinese Arch.
Monterrico Hippodrome: Visitors here can watch horse races that take place at both the national and international levels four days a week.
Soccer Stadium: At the city center is the soccer stadium where professional teams like Alianza and Cristal hold their practice sessions.
In the context of airlines, "business class" means "how I would like to fly if someone else were paying the bill." The Miraflores Park Hotel is another example of the kind of elegance and pampering ostensibly intended to minimize the discomfort of business travelers, but also quite enjoyable as an end in itself.
