City of Doha:

Doha, the capital of Qatar, is situated halfway down the east coast of the peninsula. One of the city’s main attractions is the sparkling Al-Corniche Bay, which stretches out several kilometers and is a great place for a stroll at sunset or sunrise. Many of the hotels along the bay also offer water sports like jet skiing, wakeboarding and other activities. Alongside its natural beauty, Doha also has a rich history which has been preserved in its many museums and old forts. Doha Highlights:

• Museum of Islamic Arts: First opened to public in December 2008, the museum’s design and structure is influenced by ancient Islamic architecture. It contains a wide range of Islamic art, manuscripts and other artifacts and offers a unique experience to its visitors because of its unusual location at the edge of Doha harbor.

• Al Koot Fort: Built in 1927, this white fort is the perfect place to catch a glimpse of Doha’s historical architecture. It was originally constructed to protect the Souq Waqif from thieves.

• Qatar National Museum: This is the second largest museum in Doha and displays different collections of Islamic artifacts and relics. The medallion, geology, and Bedouin sections are the museum’s most important exhibits.

• Souq Waqif: This ancient marketplace is made of up maze-like corridors and was a meeting place for people from East and West Doha during ancient times. Today, it still bustles with tourists and locals who shop for traditional garments, spices, handicrafts and souvenirs, and who frequent the market’s many restaurants and Shisha lounges.

• Doha Heritage Village: A great place to soak in Qatari culture, this traditional Qatari village depicts the everyday life of Qatari people. Seasonal festivals and activities are held throughout the year.
