LLuxe City Guide Overview

The City of Miami:

Miami is a sunshine paradise, with hardly any rain and winters which are almost non-existent. It’s like summer all year round in the “The Magic City.” The greater metropolitan area has a population of more than 5.4 million residents. Miami has come a long way from its beginnings as a city of slightly over 300 residents when it was incorporated in 1896. Miami is a city that loves to socialize, with plenty of bars, nightclubs, restaurants, and events that keep the tropical city alive and pumping. With unrivaled access to beaches and glistening blue waters, Miami is a lure to fishermen, divers, boaters, and water sport enthusiasts. Also, the city’s port accommodates the most cruise ships of any port in the world. Cruise ships passengers are more than encouraged to spend a few days in this cosmopolitan city before setting sail to the Caribbean islands.

Miami’s Highlights:

  • Everglades Safari Park: You can take a tour through the Safari Park to encounter wild animals and exotic creatures in a panoramic setting with lush vegetation and tranquility.

  • Vizcaya Museum and Gardens: The Vizcaya Museum and Gardens is a national historic landmark which gives modern-day folk the opportunity to look back at how the wealthy of Miami lived in the early 1900s.

  • Venetian Pool: Created in 1923 from a coral rock quarry, the Venetian Pool is a truly unique aquatic experience to indulge in. The pool is fed by spring water from an underground aquifer and features caves, waterfalls and stone bridges.

  • Biscayne National Park: Protecting an exceptional combination of aquamarine waters, luscious green islands, and coral reefs, Biscayne National Park is a paradise on earth.

  • South Beach: South Beach is the quintessential hot spot in Miami. It offers great nightlife, with elite beaches, sumptuous restaurants, raving bars and night clubs, splendid shopping, and divine accommodation.

The Setai (Hotels)

The long-awaited opening of the Setai was some of the biggest news to hit the South Beach hotel scene in a while. This is a town that’s not exactly hurting for over-the-top luxury accommodations, but the Setai manages to set itself apart by being even more over-the-top than the competition.   From a distance what you notice is ...

The Betsy Hotel (Hotels)

In Miami the flash hotels arms race has escalated to a point where a hotel like the Betsy is almost shocking in its restraint. We’re almost tempted to call it conservative, but with a disclaimer: the Betsy’s pre-deco plantation style means it’s got a personality all its own, and can’t help but stand out from the poolside ...

Pelican Hotel (Hotels)

Miami Beach is home to more than a few slightly over-the-top hotels, and it can be an unsettling experience trying to reconcile the total design excess with the pervasive atmosphere of high seriousness. Fortunately there’s one place that seems utterly self-aware; the Pelican is as flauntingly ostentatious as they come, but with an almost W ...

ONE Bal Harbour Resort & Spa (Hotels)

There are times when the most desirable destinations feel a little too desirable, and South Beach is no different. The very same glamour and buzz that make it one of the travel capitals of the United States can also leave guests badly in need of some peace and quiet. It’s a stretch to say, as the ONE Bal Harbour Resort & Spa does, that ...

Mandarin Oriental Miami (Hotels)

Most of us hear the word “Miami” and our minds automatically fill in the word “Beach.” But Miami’s Mandarin Oriental proves there’s more to this town than the South Beach scene.   The setting is unique, overlooking Biscayne Bay from Brickell Key, the tiny island just off the shore of downtown Miam ...

The Standard Miami (Hotels)

The long-awaited Standard Miami is here — and anyone who anticipated a carbon copy of the LA Standards will be in for a bit of a surprise. Still intact is the budget-chic philosophy — itself enough to raise an eyebrow or two in shamelessly glam Miami Beach — and unique to this particular Standard are a few novel solutions to th ...

The Viceroy Miami (Hotels)

It’s almost implicit when you’re talking about Miami hotels that you’re really talking about Miami Beach, and most often South Beach in particular. So it may bear some spelling out: the Viceroy is in downtown Miami — as in, on the mainland, surrounded by tall buildings, trading easy beach access for an urban setting that ...

The Raleigh (Hotels)

The growing pains are over: The Raleigh has emerged from its most recent bout with restoration, and the result is a hotel that quite lives up to its exceptional public image. We are also happy to say the rooms are up to the level of the hotel’s impressive public spaces. Today there are other places to stay in Miami, but you almost wouldn&r ...

One Concierge (Service)

One Concierge has quickly grown to become a globally recognized brand in the concierge and lifestyle management industry serving clients in over 115 locales around the world. Although proud of our international success, there is much more to One Concierge and our brand.   Built to serve the growing concierge market, Founder and ...

Mondrian Miami (Hotels)

With the Collins Avenue strip on the Atlantic side of South Beach pushing maximum density, it makes a certain kind of sense that the Morgans group’s next move would be to set up shop on the Biscayne Bay side. For one thing, it affords a bit of space to spread out: with over three hundred units, many of them privately owned, the Mondrian Mi ...

Hotel St. Augustine (Hotels)

In Miami’s bid to maintain its reputation as America’s sexiest destination, South Beach is its red carpet. With hotels, bars and clubs like glittering starlets flashing canned smiles to the cameras, SoBe’s exhibitionistic brand of luxury sometimes borders on sensory overload. So while its hot-list neighbors peddle the lifestyle ...

Thompson Ocean Drive - Hotel Victor (Hotels)

Miami’s classic Hotel Victor is keeping its neon signs — in the historic district of Miami Beach, branding decisions are permanent — and the elevated courtyard pool is still one of Ocean Drive’s most remarkable outdoor spaces. But some changes are afoot, now that it’s the Thompson Ocean Drive: look for a quiet but t ...

Dream South Beach Hotel & Spa (Hotels)

Sometimes it seems as though the supply is unlimited. Another South Beach Art Deco classic, this time the old Palmer House, is reborn as a modern boutique hotel. This one, the Dream South Beach, is proof that in hotels, as in much of life, there’s something to be said for focusing one’s ambitions. The Dream leaves the extreme pamperi ...

The Angler's Boutique Resort (Hotels)

Well south of Lincoln Way on a formerly neglected stretch of lower Washington Avenue, the Angler’s is a bit of a departure for South Beach hotels; visually it’s a Mediterranean Revival standout in the midst of the Art Deco district, and in terms of atmosphere, this enclosed residential compound feels miles more private than the big-s ...

King & Grove Tides (Hotels)

The Tides towers over South Beach, a 12-story monolith in gleaming white, vaguely nautical, like a moored cruise ship, complete with telescopes in the guest rooms for scanning the high seas (surely nobody uses them just for watching the girls on the beach). Distinctly un-ship-like in their spaciousness are the cabins: the hotel’s 1936-vint ...

The Villa by Barton G (Hotels)

The old Versace mansion is back, this time as a luxury boutique hotel, under a new name: The Villa by Barton G. This patchwork Italian-style palace is still every inch a monument to excess; the difference being that these days it’s open to the public — or at least ten suites' worth of the public.   A monument to mini ...

Perry South Beach (Hotels)

The Perry South Beach is at the north end of the Collins Avenue hotel row, which gives it plenty of space to spread its wings. With 334 guest rooms across 18 floors, it’s decidedly un-cramped, and the height is used to great advantage. The Perry South Beach is centered around a rooftop pool lounge — in this case with views of the Atl ...

Lords South Beach (Hotels)

There’s a certain logic to the fact that the first self-identified gay boutique hotel should occupy this particular stretch of Collins Avenue in South Beach (incidentally right around the block from the old Versace mansion) — it’s hard to imagine where it could possibly receive a warmer reception. Or give one, for that matter; ...
