Seattle is a major cultural and educational center in Washington state. Nicknamed the “Emerald City” because of its more than 6000 acres of parks with gorgeous evergreen trees, Seattle is exceptionally picturesque. The city features spectacular views of the Olympic mountains to the west and the Cascade mountains to the east. Enjoy its famous waterfront, or take a boat ride to the stunning Puget Sound Islands. Whether you enjoy browsing the many curio shops or sampling a taste of fresh Pacific Northwest seafood, Seattle’s waterfront has something for everyone.
Seattle’s Highlights:
The Space Needle: The backdrop for various romantic Hollywood movies, this famous monument was built for the World Fair in 1962. The observation floor is on the 42nd floor, 520 feet from ground level. For a unique dining experience, be sure to visit the revolving Sky City Restaurant.
Underground Tour: Bill Speidel's underground tour presents a guided walk below the streets of Seattle, which was once the old downtown but was destroyed by a fire in 1889. The tour begins in a restored saloon from the 1890s and encompasses about three blocks, ending at Rogue's Gallery. The terrain is rugged, so be sure to wear appropriate footwear.
Pike Place Market: Calling Pike Place a market is an understatement. It is more of a mini-carnival, with the hustle and bustle of a farmer’s market as well as musical shows and other performances daily.
Seattle Aquarium: A world-class underwater adventure, the Seattle Aquarium features live divers, coral reefs, and sea creatures. It isa vital force in marine conservation and sees about a half million visitors each year.
The Woodland Park Zoo: There is so muchto experience at Woodland Park Zoo that you could easily spend an entire day visiting the many animal and bird exhibits there. This is the perfect family destination.
The Market, in this case, is Seattle’s famed Pike Place Market, best known as the place where all that fish-tossing goes on. This inn is quite literally on the market, in the heart of Seattle’s most picturesque tourist area, and some rooms look over the market or the city, while others have stunning views of Elliott Bay, through floo ...

What used to be the wholly unremarkable downtown Hotel Vance is now making a play for the title of Seattle’s hippest hotel, under a new name: Hotel Max.
