Executive Hotel Le Soleil, located in bustling midtown manhattan is the new sister to the well regarded all-suite luxury boutique of the same name in downtown Vancouver. From hotelier and developer Salim Sayani, the expanding collection aims to create a consistency throughout whilst giving each property a character of its own.
From the exterior Hotel Le Soleil is unassuming, but as soon as the doorman nods you through the main entrance you notice the shining details adorning the room from the plush throw cushions to the golden sculptures atop the sleek furniture. The high ceilings give an immediate sense of space after the chaos and hustle of a journey through manhattan.
Upon check-in the friendly staff make you feel as though you’ve just arrived home, even the most weary traveller will leave the front desk with a smile to accompany their room card. The iPad check in made the process even smoother than usual and a nice touch to give even further information in the unlikely instance that you need to wait. In contrast to many New York city hotels the Soleil doesn’t charge for access to it’s high speed internet, or it’s business centre where you’ll find full facilities for any work emergency that may arise.
Other facilities include fitness room, valet parking and a very knowledgable concierge. This is perfect for those who don’t know the city well or want a real recommendation away from the typical tourist trail. Something else to note, should you travel with a furry friend, is that Executive Hotel Le Soleil is pet friendly (for pets up to 50lbs)!
All of the rooms are all clean, bright and minimally decorated, with extremely comfy beds. Equipped with everything you need, and more (the gummy bears in the minibar were way too tempting). The little touches are all there – right down to the high spec coffee machines in order to get a hit of caffeine before you brave the streets!
It’s truly the penthouses though, that provide really something extraordinary, with features such as full bars and terraces with sweeping views of the city. Spectacular in design, whilst in keeping with the rest of the hotel, they feature vaulted ceilings, beautiful artwork and can even accommodate up to 50 people. Should you be looking for a venue in the city, the views of the empire state and the clean yet luxurious space mean Hotel Le Soleil should definitely be on your list.
The wonderful and thorough staff at Hotel Le Soleil will ensure you receive a morning newspaper, and should you miss out on housekeeping or turndown with a ‘Do Not Disturb’ they’ll leave a goodie bag of fresh towels and robes on the door.
The adorable espresso bar located in a nook in the lobby serves up pastries and snacks, as well as the opportunity for your second coffee of the day. Unfortunately at the moment there is no restaurant associated with the Executive Hotel Le Soleil, but it is coming soon. In the mean time you wont struggle to find something delicious to eat or a rooftop bar for a cheeky cocktail, within mere steps, at any time of day.
EDIT: Shortly after my stay the brand new ‘Trademark Taste & Grind‘ opened. A two part opening, Trademark Grind offers Brooklyn coffee, homemade pastries, whereas Trademark Taste offers contemporary American comfort food. The perfect way to round off the luxury hotel experience, t’s definitely on my list for the next visit to NYC.
