Camino de Santiago Walk: Experience Nature

The gold road that stretches across the tip of France and down into Northern Spain is littered with pilgrims carrying their backpacks and blisters making the sojourn on the Camino de Santiago walk. Imagine waking in the quiet of a monastery, stepping out into the road and walking for miles and miles lost in the wilderness of your own thoughts. Above the sun sprinkles light along the trail, wildflowers burst in their bounty of bloom and someone passing from the other direction presses a shell in your hand with a quick nod before continuing on their own journey.

The Way of St James leads you to the holy city of Santiago de Compostela, a place carved in the well-turned pages of books for those inspired to take the great walk. Some travelers undertake the 800 km path for spiritual reasons whereas others are simply seeking time out from the chaos of the modern world and the chance to bask in the simplicity of one foot in front of another. The fresh breath of a welcome challenge, the absence of billboards, bustle and internet, on this walk you are cut off from the mayhem of manic city life, you are free from the bounds of social pressures and you are truly awake in your own company. Daily rhythms cause you to stir with the first glimmer of sun and to flop on a soft bed exhausted as soon as the moon rises.

The Camino de Santiago walk is an amazing way to discover the grace of the timeless countryside. Wandering through the veins of nature you feel truly present, the world doesn’t spin by in a blur as if you were locked in a car, senses yawn and stretch, the sun beats on your brow and the scent of strawberries glazing the hedgerows has never been so strong and present. On this journey you pass through scattered towns, sleep in the beds of locals who open their doors wide to welcome travelers and dine with other wanderers all seeking the same destination at the end of the path.
