Five of the Hottest Restaurants in Miami

Miami is all about heat, and with influences from Latin America and the Caribbean, you can guarantee the food’s going to contain some spice! The Miami dining scene is certainly heating up in recent times, with plenty of new and exciting restaurants, the arrival of celebrity chefs and some highly innovative cuisine.

During my recent trip to the Magic City, I was lucky enough to try out five of the hottest restaurants of the moment.

The Bazaar

Talking of celebrity chefs, Jose Andres is one of America’s hottest! The James Beard award-winning chef owns restaurants all across the United States and is lauded for introducing the small plates’ concept to America. His Miami restaurant, The Bazaar, is located in the ultra-hip SLS Hotel in the fabulous locale of South Beach.

I love the original Philippe Starck design of the restaurant; it’s a sexy indoor/outdoor space with huge chandeliers, 3D wall paper and eclectic artifacts lining the room.

The menu is primarily Spanish and features both classic tapas and innovative concepts using molecular gastronomy, so that a deconstructed caprese salad with liquid mozzarella features alongside traditional potatas bravas and Catalan-style tomato bread.

These Spanish dishes are seamlessly blended with reinterpreted Asian dishes to create a menu that takes you around the world while focusing frequently on Miami local produce. Make sure to try the LN2 Caipirinha, a liquid nitrogen cocktail prepared table side with a fabulous theatrical flourish.

Juvia

For stunning views across the Miami city-scape look no further than Juvia.

Situated in a penthouse in Lincoln Road, the indoor/outdoor restaurant has a relaxed vibe with a DJ playing chilled out music as you sip on a cocktail and admire the view. Pretty purple touches, a water feature and a vertical garden wall all add elements of interest to the decor without detracting from the stunning panorama.

And if you’ve come for the view, stay for the food, which fuses the delicious and delicate tastes of French, Peruvian and Japanese cooking. Make sure to try the ceviche but best of all are the desserts. The deconstructed key lime pie with shortbread crumble and meringue fingers served in an elegant glass is unmissable.

Prime 112

If you’re looking for Miami’s celebrity hotspot, you need look no further than Miles Chefetz’s steakhouse, Prime 112.

And the stars are out to try the fabulous food on offer at the restaurant. The chef has created a menu that departs from your average steakhouse as he strives to make ordinary items better, try the incredible tuna tartar for example. And you’ll be eating your steak or lobster in the super sexy restaurant with its low and sultry lighting, exposed brickwork, wooden beams and leather banquettes.

If you’re a steak lover, you’ll receive some of the finest quality filet mignon, rib eye and porterhouse all dry aged for 21 – 28 days. And if you’re not a big red meat eater, there’s plenty of seafood options that can be prepared anyway you desire.

Bianca

Housed in the super hot Delano hotel, swaths of fabric and mirrors decorate the all-white and totally chic restaurant, Bianca.

Once again with the heat of Miami you can choose to dine indoors in stylish surrounds of the hotel or outdoors with the Delano’s elegant swimming pool as your backdrop. Chef Brian Massie’s menu is predominantly Italian but there is a sushi selection to satisfy raw fish lovers.

An absolutely unmissable dish is the Big Eye tuna pizza, doused in delicious truffle oil. Trust me on this one…I’m still dreaming of that incredible sashimi creation.

Scarpetta

Scarpetta at the Fontainebleau Hotel ticks all the boxes in terms of stylish interior, great atmosphere and incredible food.

The design of the restaurant is slightly nautical with mirroring and mosaics, and navy blue leather columns. The large windows look out on to the Fontainebleau’s gorgeous pool area and the ocean beyond.

The menu is created by James Beard award-winner Scott Conant who has invented a regional Italian menu which merges rustic Italian cooking with refined flavors. Conant takes humble ingredients and elevates them to a whole new level. The signature truffle polenta gives a new dimension to the ordinary grain and the tomato and basil spaghetti is perfection in its simplicity.
