Historic Cape Dutch architecture has been impeccably restored to create luxurious accommodation in the form of fifteen en suite rooms. Each room has been individually decorated in an elegant style with meticulous attention to detail.
Although the décor and furnishings differ, all the rooms exude charm and elegance in the lovely country house setting. Modern conveniences are combined with original antiques to provide exquisite accommodation that provides the best of both old and new.
In a deliberate attempt to embrace the tranquil farmhouse country setting, there are no televisions in the rooms. However, there is a television and Wi-Fi in the communal guest lounge in the main house.
As one might expect, in the mornings guests are presented with a hearty farmhouse breakfast. This includes fresh local produce as well as home-baked breads and pastries. In addition, in the late afternoon guests are treated to afternoon tea with freshly baked cake.
Keeping in mind that Hawksmoor House is situated on a wine farm, there is a well-stocked wine cellar, complete with fireplace, as well as a wine tasting room where guests can appreciate the local wines. In the evening, a popular option is retiring to the drawing room to enjoy a selection of hand-picked single malt whiskies from some of the best regions of Scotland and Ireland.
During the day guests can enjoy the setting, including the ornamental pond and garden. There is a sparkling swimming pool for relief from the warm weather during the summer months with spectacular views of Table Mountain.
During cooler weather, staying snug indoors with a book from the library is a welcome option. If you feel like a little pampering, then in-room massages and beauty therapy treatments can be arranged.
In keeping with this elegant country homestead, the staff members are warm and friendly yet discreet. Guests are welcomed and made to feel at home from their arrival. The staff is well informed regarding the history of the farm and the antiques that are in evidence throughout the establishment.
