Icefields Parkway – Winter Wonderland Escape

Get ready to be mesmerized by the Icefields Parkway, a national treasure of Canada, located in the Canadian Rockies. Easily defined as a 240 kilometer long picturesque mountain landscape, stretching from Jasper to Lake Louise, The Icefields Parkway is a feast for the eyes.

Although one can travel the Parkway at any time of the year, the road might be blocked during the harsh winter days due to excessive snowfall. Make sure to check with the local weather service prior to taking on this breathtaking journey.

The Icefields Parkway

Along the winding road, one will enjoy the views of the Columbia Icefields, a sparkling jewel in the majestic crown of The Icefields Parkway. Take a local glacier tour to get a chance to step on an ancient yet majestic glacier.

Once you have reached Lake Louise and enjoyed the majestic views, swing inside the Glacier Saloon at the world-famous Fairmont Lake Louise hotel. Refresh yourself with a local or international brew, sit back and enjoy yourself before heading back out into the park. Moraine Lake is another great lake nearby that looks as if it was filled with emeralds and is surrounded by ten summits.

The Icefields Parkway

Getting there is easy, as the Icefields Parkway can easily be accessed via two international airports. The Edmonton International Airport and the Calgary International Airport are both located less than 30 miles from the Parkway. From both airports you will find taxis and other shuttle services to the Icefields Parkway and The Columbia Icefields.
