Luxe Phone is as Good as Gold

Aesir, the Dannish luxury retailer, recently introduced the new limited edition AE+Y phone, an 18 carat solid gold handset, retailed at 42,000 euros (approximately $60,000). This new luxury phone can’t use apps, email or mobile internet but what else would you except from a phone made of solid gold.

Aesir is targeting the ultra-weathly who have personal assistants, butlers, estate managers, chefs, and chauffeurs to service their every needs.

“It’s a collector’s item. People are used to collecting, say, watches, while designer phones is a practically empty niche,” Mr. Jensen told Reuters.

For the affluent consumers who simply can’t afford the solid gold phone, Aesir is also providing a stainless steel version retailing for approximately $10,000. Aesir plans to launch a new luxury phone every 18 months and produce its classic model in a limited quantity of 5,000.

Both luxury phones will debut in Europe followed by the U.S. thereafter.
