Her individuality and quirky personality infuse the dishes that come out of her bustling kitchen. One such example is how she has taken her guilty pleasure of Vienna sausages and transformed it into a fine dining dish. No matter what you order, there is a balance of flavors and textures, with distinctive flavors that are not overpowering.

In a nod to the restaurant’s location in the Cape Winelands, the sommelier Esmé Groenwald has paired each item on the menu with the perfect wine to complement the flavors. The result is a list of impeccable combinations for a meal like no other.

A favorite option amongst diners is the five course tasting menu with wine pairings. This is undoubtedly the best of both worlds. One such example is Akamiso Seared Tuna with Laksa foam, carrots, cashew and coconut, which is paired with a 2014 Neethlingshof Gewurztraminer.

The service at Makaron is particularly attentive. Every effort is made to accommodate diners’ dietary requirements and personal preferences. This marble-topped table is situated in the kitchen and provides a unique vantage point from which to see the workings of a professional kitchen.
