Arriving in the marvelous metropolis of London for pleasure or business, one has plenty of great accommodation options to choose from, yet I recently favored the exclusive Mandarin Oriental Hotel Hyde Park, an experience that truly augmented my personal standards when it comes to luxury lodging and esteemed hospitality.

Staying for a night or more in one of the highly sought after Mandarin Oriental Hotels is truly a complete and complex experience; enjoying life at another level and feeling the true meaning of perfect service and care. While living inside their London establishment, I understood that the overall opinion one gets about a hotel comes from many small details and moments.

From the always smiling employees who are happy to fulfill all your desires and needs to the serene and unique view one has over Hyde Park while having a delightful breakfast and from the spacious and fully-equipped rooms to the peaceful indoor swimming pool, everything is luxurious, as a guest at the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park Hotel expects.

Located right at the edge of the elegant Hyde Park and featuring some amazing panoramas of the park, unique in London, the hotel is extremely convenient for those looking to visit the best that the city has to offer, within walking or easy transportation distance from all major attractions and highlights.

The exceptional five-star hotel is housed inside an exquisite historical building with impressive Edwardian style architecture, first opened at the beginning of the 20th century as the Hyde Park Hotel. Always serving as a sort of trademark for the luxury accommodation service in London, the century old history of this hotel includes some fascinating moments when even royalty and nobility has taken interest in its service.

Changing its property, the new Mandarin Oriental Hotel of Hyde Park re-opened in 2000 after an extensive and detailed renovation of all its spaces; the classic elegance and style of the hotel being heightened by the modern design touches.

Probably the central element of my experience inside this establishment was the room itself, one of the almost 200 perfectly equipped and designed rooms, more spacious and comfortable than any other hotel in London, almost fit for the royal guests that occasionally stay at the Mandarin.

The careful attention to detail, from the way that staff is always at your service and the way the rooms is exquisitely prepared for your arrival, from the most comfortable mattress in the world to the large dressing, there are dozens of small things which made my stay truly unforgettable.

The sumptuous style and elegance of the whole hotel is easily reflected by the lavish rooms, marvelously designed and equipped with all imaginable fixtures, from the cozy sofas to the large LCD TV, a fully fit mini-bar with exclusive wines and spirits.

The spacious bathroom is decked with marble and wood offering the pleasure of rain shower bath and Ormonde Jayne beauty products. Even the electronic key of the rooms was a specially designed one.

Spending a few days in such an impressive setting, I almost felt like home, if home was anything like a palace with personal butlers and private swimming pool. Each and every space and employee of the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park has the same purpose, the complete satisfaction of each and every guest.

To truly enjoy the whole Mandarin Oriental experience, one should definitely visit the legendary trademark restaurants and bars, offering the true definition of high-class cuisine and perfectly elegant ambiance designed by the famous Adam Tihany.

From the heavenly historic European food uniquely reinvented by Michelin chef Heston Blumenthal to the chilled atmosphere of the Bar Boulud and from the classic East India feel of The Rosbery afternoon tea salon to the delicious and healthy breakfast served with the charming panorama of Hyde Park in the background, everything about the restaurants at this hotel felt just right, the quintessential mix of gastronomic pleasure and luxury style.

One of the hotel areas I tended to extremely favor was the indoor heated swimming pool, where I had the most relaxing and peaceful morning swims, with its trademark Zen like design and atmosphere.

The reflecting fire, the London like morning feeling, everything is created to give guests the ultimate lodging experience. The hotel also offers one of the best fitness spaces I have ever discovered inside a hotel, with personal celebrity trainers and a multitude of sport and fitness equipment available.
