Sayulita, Nayarit – Little Mexican Surfing Haven

Most people are familiar with Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, but about 25 miles north is a lesser-known beach town called Sayulita. With a population of about 4,000, it’s the perfect place to escape all the crowds that are attracted to the better-known Mexican cities.

Sayulita, a Little Mexican Surfing Town

Sayulita was “discovered” by surfers in the late 1960s. It continues to attract a steady stream of surfers because it is known for its consistent river mouth south break. As the area has developed, there is also a great mix of upscale restaurants and art galleries. The eco luxury tourist will feel right at home in this beach village.

Outside of surfing, be sure to enjoy activities like whale watching from kayaks, golf and horseback riding.

Here are a few places to stay when visiting Sayulita:

Sayulita - Villa Amor

Villa Amor

Villa Amor is made up of 36 villas with ranging in size from studios to 5-bedrooms. While each villa is unique, the one thing that is similar are the breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean that can be viewed from the wide verandas.

Villa Amor doesn’t have any televisions or telephones, however, we doubt you’ll mind as you lay in a hammock and take in all of the natural beauty of Sayulita.

Sayulita - Casa Mis Amores

Casa Mis Amores

Casa Mis Amores is a 25,000 square-foot estate on a sprawling 85 acres of unspoiled jungle. The main house has three suites and there are also two separate private villas on the property. With so much space, it shouldn’t be surprising that there is every luxury that you can dream of.
