Fez
Fez is the medieval capital of Morocco and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Additionally, it is thought to be one of the world’s largest car-free urban areas. Fez also has the oldest operating university in the world, Al-Qarawiyyin, which was founded in AD 859. Hire a guide and explore the old town medina. Cascades Ouzoud
Located in the Grand Atlas village about 150 miles northeast of Marrakech are the Ouzoud Waterfalls. Ouzoud is made up of three tiered waterfalls that drop 110 meters into the river. You can trek along the river up to the caves or just enjoy the natural beaut of the falls and use it as a backdrop for photos. There are several restaurants serving traditional Moroccan food nearby which makes it easy to enjoy the day.
Koutoubia Mosque
The Koutoubia Mosque was completed in 1157 and is the largest mosque in Marrakesh. It is made of red stone and has 112 columns covering 58,000 square feet. The mosque is off limits to non-Muslims, but tourists can still enjoy the gardens.
Ouarzazate
Movie buffs must make a visit to Ouarzazate. If you’re familiar with the films Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator, Cleopatra and the Mummy, then you’re already familiar with this region of Morocco. All of these films were shot there. Ouarzazate is also home to the largest movie studio in the world.
